Android app privacy

5 Minute Detective is operated by Daniel Jenkins. This notice covers our Android app. For privacy questions or a request to see or delete your information, email daniel@jenkinsinteractive.com.
Playing and saving a game
You do not need an account. The app opens our game over a secure internet connection. It needs internet access to load cases and save progress. It does not ask for your contacts, photos, microphone or precise location.
We save a game record on our server without your name. It includes the case, start time, deadline, clues, answers and result. A cookie in the app links it to your saved case for up to 30 days. Your sound setting and unfinished theory are stored on your device.
Cloudflare hosts the game and its saved records. It handles connection details, such as your IP address, to send pages and protect the service. The website privacy notice gives more detail about saved games, hosting and your rights.
Android advertising
The app includes Google AdMob. We plan to show a banner below the game and an occasional full-screen ad between completed cases. Ads do not cover the scene or interrupt a running timer. If an ad cannot load, you can carry on playing.
Live advertising is switched off in our first review build. Development builds use Google’s test ads. We will enable live ads only after the relevant Google approvals and our privacy checks pass.
When live ads are enabled, Google’s Mobile Ads SDK may collect your IP address, approximate location, device identifiers, app and ad interactions, and information about faults or performance. Google uses this information to show and measure ads, prevent fraud and run its services. Google and its advertising partners may receive this information. We do not send your clues, suspect choices or game answers to AdMob.
The app uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to ask for any privacy choices needed where you live. It stores your choices on this device. We check these choices before asking for an ad. In places where US privacy rules apply, the form lets you opt out of your information being sold or shared for advertising. You can still play if you decline.
In the Android app, open the app menu and choose “Privacy choices”. This opens Google’s privacy form. Your choice is saved on that device.
Use the app menu’s “Privacy choices” option to change or withdraw a choice. Closing the app or loading a page again keeps your saved choice. You may be asked again when it expires or the privacy settings change. The app uses its own privacy form; it does not load the website’s AdSense ads or InMobi privacy window.

Your device and your choices
The app stores an ad frequency record on your device to avoid repeating full-screen ads. It does not use a separate analytics service. Sharing a result opens Android’s share menu. You choose the app and decide whether to send it.
Clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it removes its local saved choices and its link to saved cases. This does not remove server records. Contact us for help with a server record. You can ask us to see, correct or delete information we hold, or to limit its use. We may need details that let us find the right record.
Other information
This game is made for adults. It includes fictional crime, death and deception. It is not aimed at children under 18.
Cloudflare, Google and their providers may handle information in other countries. Their privacy notices explain the safeguards they use. If you contact us, we use your email address and message to answer you. You can also raise a concern with your local privacy regulator. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office.
We will update this notice if the app’s data use changes.
